    Contacts

People hub Contacts tab—your customer database with email preferences, CSV export, and jobs/billing hanging off each record.

    Overview

Contacts are the customer hub of Bounty CRM. Every job, estimate, invoice, contract, and many communications hang off a person or organization you have on file. In the web app, Contacts live under the People hub (Contacts tab)—alongside Projects and Team—so customer data stays near the other “who” records in your business.

Think of a contact as the durable identity of a customer: name, phones, emails, addresses, billing preferences, and communication opt-ins. Operational work (jobs) and money documents (estimates, invoices, contracts) reference that identity so history stays connected as the relationship grows from first estimate to repeat service.

Contacts are included on all paid plans and the free trial. Email delivery depends on SendGrid. SMS is deferred for MVP and is not available yet.

What it allows you to do

    • Create and maintain a searchable customer database with contact details and service addresses.
    • Open a contact as a hub to see related jobs, estimates, invoices, and other history in one place.
    • Capture email preferences so outreach respects how the customer wants to be reached.
    • Export contacts to CSV for backups, mail merges, or migration into other tools.
    • Start new jobs and billing documents from the right customer without retyping names and addresses.
    • Keep office and field aligned on who the customer is—especially when multiple techs visit the same site over time.

    How it impacts your workflow

Service businesses that skip a real contact record end up with orphaned jobs and invoices that are hard to search later. Bounty CRM pushes the opposite habit: create (or find) the contact first, then hang work and billing on it. That sounds small, but it is the difference between “find everything for the Smiths at 12 Oak” and “hunt through last month’s invoices hoping the spelling matches.”

Day to day, office staff use Contacts when the phone rings—look up the customer, confirm the site, review last service, then create a job or estimate. Dispatch uses the same record when assigning techs so the field app shows the right address and notes. Billing uses billing email and payment history that already live on the contact.

Communication preferences matter once you send estimate links or invoice pay links. Capturing email prefs up front reduces bounce risk and keeps you aligned with customer expectations.

    Key screens & actions

Web: Open People from the main menu, then the Contacts tab. Mobile: People in the bottom navigation. Both surfaces support finding a customer quickly and opening detail for follow-up.

    List and search

    • Browse contacts in card or list layouts with search and filters.
    • Use filters to narrow active customers, recent activity, or other criteria your team relies on.
    • Open a contact detail view for full profile and related records.

    Customer profile & preferences

    • Maintain primary and billing contact details, phones, and emails.
    • Set email preferences so document sends and reminders use the right channel.
    • Keep service location context accurate so jobs and customer links show the correct site.

    Export

CSV export is available for contacts when you need an offline copy or to feed another system. Export is a snapshot—ongoing work still lives in Bounty CRM. Treat exported files carefully; they contain customer personal information.

    1. Open People → Contacts.
    2. Search for an existing customer before creating a duplicate.
    3. Create or edit the contact with phones, emails, and addresses.
    4. Set email preferences for how they want to hear from you.
    5. From the contact, create a job, estimate, or invoice as needed.
    6. Export to CSV when you need a backup or external list.

    Connections

    Permissions & plan notes

Contact & Customer Management is included on Starter ($49), Professional ($129), and Business ($249). Role permissions still decide who can create, edit, export, or view contacts. Field techs often need read access to complete jobs; office roles usually need full write access.

    • Email delivery depends on SendGrid setup—see /docs/guides/email-sms-setup.
    • SMS is deferred for MVP and is not sold or enabled today.
    • Custom Email Domain (Professional and Business, or add-on) improves branded email from your domain when messaging contacts.

    Tips & common questions

    • Search before create—duplicate contacts fragment job and invoice history.
    • Keep a billing email on file; pay links and receipts need email.
    • Use Projects when one customer has a multi-phase remodel; use Contacts alone for typical one-off service calls.
    • CSV export is great for quarterly backups; it is not a live sync with another CRM.
    • If a customer says they never got a message, verify preferences on the contact and check /docs/guides/email-sms-setup.
    • Need help merging messy legacy lists into Bounty CRM? Email customerservice@praevisio.co—we can advise on import patterns during alpha.

Jobs and billing hang off contacts by design. If a document seems “orphaned,” open it and confirm the linked contact—then fix the link rather than recreating the customer.
